CurrTech Integrations announces the release of Express Biology.
Express Biology was developed to help students learn. Although not intended to take the place of the teacher, Express Biology units can stand alone or compliment an existing comprehensive science program. Express Biology can be used as advanced instruction for academic students, classroom lesson plans for on-grade students, take-home learning units for home-bound students, and as resource units for all students.
Testimonials
"For
years K-12 educators, and especially elementary educators who must teach all subjects,
have asked for an integrated curriculum in which the disciplines are complementary
and reinforcing. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Education is the best chance that we have to realize that vision."
Hays
B. Lantz, Jr., Ed. D.
Former Assistant Superintendent for STEM Education
Baltimore County Public Schools, Maryland
"The STEM modules developed by CurrTech Integrations offer an important alternative to the “mile wide, inch deep” curricula so commonly purveyed in familiar science and mathematics textbooks. The STEM modules* engage students in 'doing' science and engineering, while incorporating mathematics and technology in authentic ways. Such a curriculum will not only develop and deepen students’ understandings of important ideas and processes in the subject areas, it will cultivate the very 21st Century Skills that are recognized as being critical to success in the future."
Jay McTighe,
co-author of The Understanding by Design series
"I am pleased with the partnership Utica Community Schools has developed with CurrTech Integrations. Working with the STEM modules, our teachers appreciate having an active role in developing a science curriculum that is intellectually challenging and that is on target with assisting our students in meeting the new Michigan graduation requirements. Students of all ability levels are finding success in challenging coursework through the application of the STEM modules. They are doing and thinking about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in new and exciting ways".
Dr. Christine Johns, Superintendent, Utica Community Schools, Sterling Heights, Michigan.
"To say that the STEM modules are a great success with my science classes would be an understatement! Not only are the students interested and engaged, they actually look forward to science each day and are disappointed if we have to miss it for some reason. The format and structure of the modules allows the students to take an active part in their own learning which, in turn, enables them to truly understand the concepts that are being taught. This understanding is evidenced by their ability to apply the learned skills not only to science, but to all areas of the STEM curriculum, as well. The excitement my students have shown over the STEM modules is inspiring and has helped to give even more energy to my daily science instruction"!
Nancy Hacket, Elementary Teacher, Utica Community Schools, Sterling Heights, Michigan.
"Joe Mills, Jr., CurrTech Integrations' Vice President of Mathematics, began working with Somerset County Public Schools in 2001. We had been looking for an outside consultant to help us restructure our Mathematics program and he came highly recommended. He began working with our elementary and middle school teachers completely revising our curriculum and implementing an instructional program that included using Spiral Reviews and Benchmark Assessments. We have raised our Maryland State Assessment proficiency scores at the elementary level from 55.3% in 2003 to 80% in 2008. Our middle level proficiency scores increased from 33.2% in 2003 to 58.1% in 2008. Joe and his program have been responsible for helping us raise these scores. He is continuing to work with us, moving on into the high school math program in 2006".
Doug Bloodsworth, Assistant Superintendent, Somerset County Public Schools, Maryland.
